Kali Linux 2025.3: Unveiling 10 New Hacking Tools for Enhanced Penetration Testing

Offensive Security has announced the release of Kali Linux 2025.3, the latest version of their Debian-based distribution geared towards ethical hacking and penetration testing. This update, following the release of Kali Linux 2025.2, brings a variety of new features and tools to enhance user capabilities.

One of the significant additions is Nexmon support, which enables monitor mode and injection for the Raspberry Pi’s built-in Wi-Fi. This is part of an effort to extend the functionality of certain wireless chips. The inclusion of Nexmon means that Raspberry Pi users can now experience improved capabilities, along with support for the Raspberry Pi 5.

The release introduces ten new hacking tools to the distribution, including:

  • Caido and Caido-cli: A web security auditing toolkit.
  • Detect It Easy (DiE): A file type identification tool.
  • Gemini CLI: An open-source AI agent for terminal use.
  • Ligolo-mp: A multiplayer pivoting solution.
  • Vwifi-dkms: A tool for setting up dummy Wi-Fi networks.
  • Krbrelayx: A Kerberos relaying and abuse toolkit.
  • llm-tools-nmap: Enabling LLMs for network discovery and security scanning.
  • Mcp-kali-server: For connecting an AI agent to Kali.
  • Patchleaks: To identify security fixes rapidly.

In addition to these tools, Kali Linux 2025.3 also features a new Xfce panel plugin that allows users to quickly check and copy their current VPN IP address, enhancements to CARsenal, improvements in wireless injection for Kali NetHunter, and has dropped support for the ARMel architecture.

Kali Linux 2025.3 can be downloaded from the official website in several versions, including 64-bit, ARM, VM, Cloud, WSL, and mobile. Current users of Kali Linux can easily update their systems using the terminal command sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade.

Kali Linux 2025.1 Launch: Embrace Ethical Hacking with Xfce 4.20 and a Fresh New Look

Offensive Security has officially released Kali Linux 2025.1, marking the first update of this year for the widely-used Debian-based distribution tailored for ethical hacking and penetration testing. This release, arriving three months after Kali Linux 2024.4, features a refreshed annual theme, which includes an updated boot menu, login screen, and desktop wallpapers.

Kali Linux 2025.1 introduces the latest Xfce 4.20 desktop environment, enhancing user experience. Additionally, it upgrades to KDE Plasma 6.2, introduces new keyboard shortcuts to streamline navigation, and incorporates a significant kernel update alongside a new partition layout and improved boot firmware for Raspberry Pi devices. Specifically, users are advised that transitioning to version 2025.1a for Raspberry Pi necessitates starting from a new image due to substantial architectural changes.

New to this version is a tool called Hoaxshell, which serves as a generator and handler for Windows reverse shell payloads that utilize the HTTP(S) protocol to create a reverse shell. There are also updates to Kali NetHunter, featuring fresh kernels for devices like the Samsung Galaxy S9/S10 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro.

Users can download Kali Linux 2025.1 from the official website in various editions suitable for 64-bit systems, ARM, virtual machines, cloud environments, WSL, and mobile platforms. For existing users, simply run sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade in a terminal to update their installations.

Parrot OS 6.2: Ethical Hacking Distro Unveils New Launcher for Docker Containers

Parrot Security has officially announced the launch of Parrot OS 6.2, marking the latest iteration of this Debian-based distribution aimed at ethical hacking and penetration testing.

This new version arrives over four and a half months after Parrot OS 6.1 and introduces a fresh tool named Rocket. This tool allows users to easily launch Docker containers, featuring various security utilities from the Parrot OS repository available on Docker Hub. Rocket is developed entirely in Python and utilizes PyQt6 for its graphical user interface.

“Instead of typing and downloading a specific tool, through Rocket you can select a tool from the list, and then downloading the Docker image and launching the container is taken care of by the application,” explain the developers. “This application runs on ParrotOS, but is also compatible with other distributions.”

In addition to the new tool, several existing hacking utilities have been refreshed in Parrot OS 6.2. The distribution now includes updated versions of Airgeddon 11.30, Anonsurf 5.0.0, and Maltego 4.7.0. It also comes with important upgrades to the parrot-tools metapackages, which cover a wide range of categories including cloud, crypto, forensics, infogathering, reversing, web, and wireless.

For additional information, check the release notes. You can now download Parrot OS 6.2 from the official website, which offers the Security Edition, Home Edition, and Hack The Box Edition options. The distribution runs on Linux kernel 6.10, which has recently reached its end of life, while the Raspberry Pi images utilize Linux 6.6 LTS.

This release is intended for new installations only, as current Parrot OS users can upgrade their systems by executing the sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade commands in a terminal emulator.

Parrot OS 6.0: The New Ethical Hacking Distro Introducing Linux 6.5 and Raspberry Pi 5 Support

ParrotSec announced today the release and general availability of Parrot OS 6.0 as the latest version of this Debian-based security-oriented distribution for ethical hacking and penetration testing.

“Parrot 6 continues our tradition of delivering a sophisticated, yet user-friendly, environment for security professionals, developers, and privacy enthusiasts”

Parrot OS 6.0 is here almost a year after Parrot OS 5.2 and it’s based on the latest Debian GNU/Linux 12 “Bookworm” operating system series. However, the devs decided not to ship Parrot OS 6.0 with Debian Bookworm’s long-term supported Linux 6.1 LTS kernel but with the newer Linux 6.5 kernel series for better hardware support due to backporting DKMS modules for Wi-Fi drivers.

This release also ships with an improved installation experience thanks to the Calamares installer, updated system appearance for a fresh look (yet still using the MATE desktop), PipeWire as the default audio system replacing PulseAudio, GRUB fail-safe boot options for more reliable and safe booting, and VirtualBox backported from Debian Sid for enhanced virtualization support.

As anticipated, all integrated penetration testing tools have received updates, offering the most recent hacking methods and techniques. There’s also a novel containerization feature for unsupported tools, boosting flexibility. Additionally, Parrot OS 6.0 introduces a fresh libc6 library and Python 3.11, enabling the most recent versions of various tools.

This facilitates subsequent Parrot versions to incorporate several tools previously deprecated/dropped or never included due to their integration complexity,” the devs elaborated.

You can download Parrot OS 6.0 presently for fresh installations from the official website in different versions like Security Edition, Home Edition, and Hack The Box Edition. Current Parrot OS users can update to the new version by twice executing the commands mentioned below in a terminal emulator.

sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade

The Raspberry Pi Edition of Parrot OS 6.0 will be available shortly with support for Raspberry Pi 5 so I’ll do some testing and write a review to let you guys know how this distro works on the latest Raspberry Pi computer.
