KeePassXC has released version 2.7.11 of its open-source password manager, which brings notable enhancements and features to improve user experience. This update comes nearly nine months after version 2.7.10, adding a new option for auto-generating passwords for new entries and support for group synchronization in KeeShare.
Among the new features, the update introduces support for HTML and Markdown preview, image handling, and text editing within the inline attachment viewer. Users will also benefit from a database merge confirmation dialog, enhancements to placeholder expressions, and new options to limit exposed groups in the password browser. This version also enables timestamps and password history functionality for the Bitwarden importer, as well as predefined searches for TOTP entries.
A significant change is that password database locking is now enabled by default after a period of inactivity set to 900 seconds. Additionally, the system will no longer automatically permit sites when a new entry is added via the browser extension, and it caps the default Argon2 parallelism during the creation of a new password database.
Further improvements include the introduction of URL typing presets and more granular confirmation settings for the Auto-Type feature, alongside a variety of bug fixes addressing startup delays and memory initialization issues on Linux systems.
KeePassXC 2.7.11 can be downloaded from its official website and is available as an AppImage, which allows it to run on most GNU/Linux distributions without requiring installation. Users can also find it as a Flatpak application on Flathub.
