Raspberry Pi has launched a new variant of the Raspberry Pi 5 single-board computer, now available with 1GB RAM for $45 USD. This addition aims to provide the community with greater flexibility for Linux and Open Source projects.
Originally released two years ago, the Raspberry Pi 5 was first offered in 4GB and 8GB RAM versions, followed by a 2GB variant in August 2024, and a 16GB model in January 2025 due to advancements in the Broadcom BCM2712 application processor.
The Raspberry Pi 5 with 1GB RAM shares the same specifications as its higher RAM counterparts. It includes a quad-core 2.4GHz Arm Cortex-A76 processor, dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and a PCI Express port. Other features of the board consist of dual 4Kp60 HDMI display outputs, HDR support, and a VideoCore VII GPU compatible with OpenGL ES 3.1a and Vulkan 1.3.
However, Raspberry Pi has also announced an increase in the prices of several models, including the Raspberry Pi 4 and other Raspberry Pi 5 variants. This decision comes in response to the significant rise in LPDDR4 memory costs. The new pricing is as follows: Raspberry Pi 4 with 4GB is now $60, 8GB is $85; for Raspberry Pi 5, the 2GB is $55, 4GB is $70, 8GB is $95, and 16GB is $145.
