The company released a penguin-themed video titled "Follow the white penguin," referencing Linux with notable elements such as the iconic penguin mascot, the "I use Arch btw" meme, and various Linux distribution logos, including Ubuntu and Fedora.
In addition to hints about Linux, Framework announced its product availability in four new countries: New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, and Singapore. However, they advised potential customers to refrain from placing orders until after the event.
The announcement also addressed ongoing supply shortages and rising costs within the consumer tech industry, stating, “Memory, storage, silicon, and everything related to it is being consumed at unprecedented levels in a ‘winner takes all’ race to an AI-first world.” The company has been transparent about previous price changes related to these shortages.
Framework assured users that this is not a farewell to personal computing but rather a commitment to building hardware that grants users ownership over their technology.
