Now, integrating it directly into Cinnamon will enhance visual appeal and streamline the overall user experience, making transitions between screens smoother.
Additionally, the new implementation will support Wayland, complementing the current Xorg/X11 setup. Although Linux Mint is not rushing to switch to Wayland entirely, it aims to keep that option available. The refinement also allows developers to simplify the code, moving away from the complexities linked to earlier GNOME versions.
