The new Users panel, integrated into the System Administration utility, will enable users to manage their accounts without requiring administrator privileges. One of the most noteworthy features is the ability to enable home directory encryption during the creation of new user accounts. This uses eCryptfs, a feature that was available only during the OS installation previously. In addition to managing accounts, the new panel will introduce webcam support to facilitate setting up custom user images. Users will be able to take selfies, adjust mirroring, and see previews before finalizing their account images. With these updates, the user experience is expected to improve significantly, especially with the Mint Menu now displaying user account images more effectively.
