Among the improvements, the system now allows out-of-the-box connection support for MTP devices with GNOME 49 and enhances the KDE Plasma Mobile experience by improving Waydroid integration, streamlining the lockscreen functionality, and refining the homescreen. Phosh 0.51 introduces a variety of enhancements such as improved automatic brightness settings, adaptive Rust portals, and thumbnail previews for file choosers. It also supports multiple media players on the lock screen and features a new pop-up interface for typing indicators on the Stevia keyboard. Moreover, the mobile settings app has been upgraded to show initial configurations from the postmarketOS tweaks app, which also allows users to set terminal layout shortcuts.
Sxmo, another supported UI, has been upgraded to Sxmo 1.18.1, bringing support for the i3 and River window managers, along with a revamped Quick Actions menu. The release replaces the callaudiod daemon with WirePlumber to optimize audio management for phone calls.
Also included in this release is mobile-config-firefox 5.1.0, a security-friendly configuration for Firefox that features an about:mobile page for users to control settings easily.
postmarketOS 25.12 now supports the Lenovo ThinkSmart View tablet and enhances camera support for the Acer Chromebook Tab 10, along with improvements in call audio for the OnePlus 6 smartphone and better compatibility for Fairphone 5, Librem 5, and PinePhone devices.
