System76, a vendor that specializes in Linux hardware, has revealed a new version of its robust Serval WS laptop powered by Linux, now featuring a cutting-edge 14th-generation Intel Core processor.
The aim for System76 is to introduce 14th Gen Intel CPUs to the entirety of their Linux laptop range. With the Bonobo WS laptop already upgraded, the spotlight now turns to the Serval WS laptop which has been revitalized with a 14th Gen Intel i9-14900HX CPU, possessing 36 MB cache, 24 total cores, a maximum clock speed of 5.8 GHz and backed up by Intel Iris Xe Graphics.
Available in two versions, the Serval WS laptop offers 15″ and 17″ matte displays. Two 17″ variants of the Serval WS are provided: one with a 4K UHD (3840×2160) resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate, the other with a 2K QHD (2560×1440) resolution and a 240 Hz refresh rate. A 165 Hz refresh rate is a feature of the 15″ model.
In addition, the Serval WS includes a selection of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 graphics cards, with up to 64GB DDR5 5600 MHz RAM, a maximum of 8 TB M.2 PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage, Thunderbolt 4, 2.5 GbE Ethernet, and rapid USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports. Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 and a multi-colored backlit chiclet US QWERTY keyboard are also featured.
“Display and performance also make the Serval WS the ideal gaming laptop,” said System76. “Benchmark tests in Cyberpunk on the RTX 4060 yielded 72FPS using the game’s high graphics setting. The Serval WS is at its peak with AI workloads.”
