The update specifically enhances Linux Guest Additions. It resolves an issue where Guest Additions processes would continue running post-reboot or shutdown, and fixes problems related to session services for older Linux distributions. It also addresses a build issue with Linux kernels version 2.5.52 and earlier.
For Linux hosts, there are fixes such as resolving a startup problem for virtual machines when running on a real-time kernel configuration, and correcting an issue with the vboxautostart-service not launching virtual machines on system boot. Moreover, improvements were made to the VirtualBox GUI, including fixes that prevent download failures for update files and ensure proper listing in the Resource Manager tab.
Other changes include making OemTabId configurable, moving several features like the VRDP server and USB smartcard emulation to the open-source base package, and enhancing filename checks for drag-and-drop operations.
