The Document Foundation has released LibreOffice 25.2.7, marking it as the final maintenance update for the LibreOffice 25.2 series, which will officially end its support on November 30, 2025. Users are encouraged to upgrade to the newer LibreOffice 25.8 series to ensure they receive continued updates and bug fixes.
LibreOffice 25.8 has already been integrated into major Linux distributions and offers numerous improvements and features compared to its predecessor. According to the changelogs for the previous release candidates, LibreOffice 25.2.7 addresses 43 bugs.
Notably, users of the 25.2.x series should transition to the 25.8.x series since the former is nearing the end of its support period. New functionalities in LibreOffice 25.8, which debuted on August 20, 2025, include enhanced PDF 2.0 export capabilities, faster file openings up to 30% in both Writer and Calc, improved memory management for better performance on virtual desktops and thin clients, and significant advancements in word hyphenation and spacing.
LibreOffice 25.8 will continue to receive support through seven maintenance updates, with a projected release of the next point version, 25.8.3, expected by mid-November 2025.
Both LibreOffice 25.2.7 and LibreOffice 25.8.2 can be downloaded from the official website in RPM and DEB package formats, or as source tarballs. Additionally, LibreOffice 25.8.2 is accessible as a Flatpak app via Flathub or within most distribution repositories.
