PeaZip has released version 10.8 of its open-source archive manager, significantly enhancing its functionality. This update provides a substantial overhaul of how items can be previewed within archives, now allowing users to launch the built-in image viewer for various archive types, including ARC, BCM, Brotli, and Zstandard, a feature previously limited to 7z/p7zip formats.
In addition to improved preview capabilities, users can now utilize the Context menu to access previewing features directly. The image viewer also features an automatic snap function that adjusts its size to match the on-screen image when exiting full-screen mode.
The update introduces new customizable themes named line-dark and tux-alt-dark, along with an analysis tool for the header’s “magic bytes” that provides additional file information displayed in the app’s title bar. Other new features include a logging option for commands created by the scripting engine, a recovery volumes option for multipart RAR archives, and a task progress window that can be hidden for smaller workflows.
Moreover, PeaZip 10.8 brings updates to compression presets, enhances atomic extraction for TAR archives, expands the language selection menu, and incorporates backend updates. Various bugs have also been fixed to enhance performance.
