This marks the second release of AerynOS to feature KDE Plasma during installation, complete with KDE Frameworks 6.20 and KDE Gear 25.08.3 software packages. Notably, AerynOS 2025.12 includes the new Mesa 25.3 graphics stack, which offers Vulkan anti-lag support, enhancing Linux gaming performance. Infrastructure improvements have also been made, including an auto-pruning feature in the Vessel repository manager service which helps manage server storage efficiency.
Included in this release are updates to several packages, featuring the latest Firefox 146 web browser, along with various utilities like GNU Bash 5.3.8, Docker 29.0.4, FFmpeg 8.0.1, and Wine 10.19.
The AerynOS developers are also focusing on upcoming enhancements such as Versioned Repositories, improved rollback management, and a revamped system installer supporting complete disk wipes and sophisticated disk partitioning.
