The Xubuntu team is hosting a wallpaper contest in celebration of the upcoming release of Xubuntu 26.04 LTS, also known as Resolute Raccoon, and to mark Xubuntu’s 20th anniversary as an official flavor of Ubuntu.
Submissions for artwork began on February 18, 2026, and interested participants can share their designs on the official wallpaper contest thread on the Ubuntu Discourse community. While the contest targets the Xubuntu community, contributions from anyone wishing to have their work displayed in a popular Linux distribution are welcome.
Participants must adhere to a few basic guidelines: they must own the rights to their images, which should be high-quality and in 4K (3840×2160 pixels) resolution, submitted in either PNG or WebP formats. Additionally, artworks must be licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0 or CC BY 4.0. Important to note, AI-generated images are not permissible.
The submission period runs until March 4, 2026, after which voting will open. Voting will conclude on March 11, 2026, with the winners announced on the Ubuntu Discourse thread. Winners will receive exclusive Xubuntu stickers.
Participants wishing to enter the contest can register for an Ubuntu One account on the Discourse forum if they do not already have one. Xubuntu 26.04 LTS is set for official release on April 23, 2026, and will include the latest Xfce 4.20 desktop environment by default.
