Canonical has made a request to all artists, graphic designers, and Ubuntu fans to provide images for the official wallpaper contest for the forthcoming Ubuntu 24.04 LTS “Noble Numbat” operating system release.
Known as the “Noble Numbat”, Ubuntu 24.04 TLS is planned for release on April 25th, 2024. The Ubuntu developers are seeking your assistance in supplying another lovely batch of wallpapers for the next Ubuntu LTS release, marking Canonical’s 20th anniversary.
Consequently, you’re invited to submit your artwork for the Ubuntu 24.04 LTS “Noble Numbat” wallpaper contest. You can share your artwork on the official Ubuntu Discourse website from February 9th to March 4th.
In essence, you should act quickly as you have shorter than three weeks from the moment of this announcement to submit your artwork. The winning wallpapers will be showcased on the desktops of millions of Ubuntu users from late April 2024.
As is customary, only the top 5 submissions will be selected by the Ubuntu Desktop team for inclusion in the Noble Numbat release. The voting opens on March 4th and concludes on March 18th, whereupon the chosen winners will be revealed.
It’s crucial to remember some of the key rules of the Ubuntu wallpaper competition. Foremost being that you must possess the rights to the image that you submit. The image must be licensed under either CC BY-SA 4.0 or CC BY 4.0. Furthermore, the image that you submit must be of 4K (3840x2160px) resolution, and it must be in either PNG or WebP format.
This year, the Ubuntu Desktop team has devised four style categories for submissions. These are Mascot & Theme, Digital & Abstract Art, Nature, and Other. As such, they are not only looking for submissions that are themed around the Noble Numbat mascot, but they also welcome a variety of wallpaper styles from the genres listed above.
