Key features in Darktable 5.2 include the ability to view snapshots side by side with the current image, a novel “Raster Mask Import” module, and a multi-preset export section that allows users to export selected images using multiple presets in just one action. Additionally, the Sigmoid module has been named the default tone-mapper for new installations, and the metadata module is now fully customizable, enabling users to add tags supported by exiv2 and organize presets into submenus.
User interface and experience have also been improved. The zoom range widget has been replaced with a spin button, and the application now allows using Ctrl+click in the Color Balance RGB settings to accurately select colors.
Current camera support has also been enhanced. Darktable now includes base support for numerous models, and introduces new white balance presets and noise profiles for specific cameras, enhancing the software’s functionality for a variety of professional photography use cases.
Other updates include the removal of less utilized modules, improved reading of specific file formats, and better output rendering for various image processing functions.
