In his now-famous post on the comp.os.minix newsgroup, Torvalds mentioned his enthusiasm for creating a free operating system, expressing that he would welcome any feedback on the aspects of MINIX users liked or disliked. He indicated that his project had been in the works since April of that year and promised something practical would emerge within a few months.
Fast forward to today, and Linux has evolved beyond what anyone could have imagined back then.
