Users can also select a running application by typing the first letter of its class name in the Alt+Tab switcher, or by using number keys or the mouse for application selection in horizontal mode.
Another notable feature is the inclusion of support for high-resolution icons with various sized presets, along with improvements in icon rendering through server-side caching. Improvements for HiDPI monitors and alpha blending as the default also come with this update, allowing for a polished visual experience.
Additionally, IceWM 4.0 has dropped some outdated features such as the DoubleBuffer and QuickSwitchMaxWidth preferences. It now includes a new mechanism for dynamically updating workspace names on the taskbar and consistently uses the clock font when the clock pixmap is unavailable. Other enhancements include system diagnostics for specific commands, a limit on window titles, and various language support refreshes, covering multiple translations like Catalan, German, and Portuguese.
