Today, Linus Torvalds announced the availability of the first Release Candidate (RC) of the upcoming Linux 6.16 kernel series for public testing. The announcement comes just two weeks after the release of Linux kernel 6.15, marking the closure of the merge window for version 6.16. The RCs will be issued weekly every Sunday until the final release, which is anticipated to occur in late July or early August 2025.
