The PS5 Linux project continues to receive updates following the departure of its former lead developer, Andy Nguyen. Recent changes to the PS5-linux-loader add support for PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro consoles running firmware versions 5.00 through 13.60.
Seven developers have taken over the project. Its current features include support for all USB ports, HDMI output up to 4K at 60 Hz, internal Bluetooth, Ethernet through a custom Gigabit Ethernet driver, and VAAPI hardware video decoding, encoding, and transcoding. Claude is also listed among the project’s contributors.
Firmware 14.10 could be a future target: a hypervisor exploit has reportedly already surfaced for that version. If support is added, it may eventually be possible to use Linux on a PS5 Pro and still play GTA VI when the game launches.
